Disciplined Drawing
Disciplined drawing means laying down a series of construction lines to guide the proportions and sense of perspective before any actual ink is laid down on the drawing. Disciplined drawing can be used to make realistic looking images of a hypothetical design as well as to create accurate looking observational drawings of an object or scene as seen by the artist.

Disciplined Design Drawing
Making a disciplined design drawing usually involves one or more layers of paper with construction lines to guide the final drawing. This allows the artist to move from rough geometric shapes to a well defined rendition of a 3D space, adjusting aspects of the design throughout the process.

Disciplined Observation Drawing
Observational drawings can be disciplined by making the initial drawing in construction line red or blue graphite, the proportions of the final drawing can then be more finely tuned from this rough first sketch. In the final observational drawings sometimes the background red lines are visible and sometimes they are nearly obscured. Disciplined observational drawing can provide more fidelity than freehand sketching though it can also take more time. My drawings here are both fine-line marker and three-color highlight and tone pencil drawings.
