2nd year design studio at MSU
In the second year architecture studio I delved deeper into systems thinking and pushed myself to improve my craft through model making to materialize ideas. This studio developed design through architectural ideas of form, space, and order, asking us to design responsibly for a site near Yellowstone National Park.
A didactic space that feels alive.
I have designed a place to learn about the natural environment of Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Since nature is the best place to learn about nature, the building will attempt to express the connection and contradiction that is an indoor place to learn about the outdoors. The building will speak to American disconnection from nature and desire to reconnect and be embedded in place.
I have designed an outdoor education center, a space that is the beginning of a cure for the wound that exists between wilderness and civilization. Inhabiting the space requires going outside regularly during the course of regular activities. This brings people closer to the wilderness that is mere miles away and encourages reflection on how they interact with the natural world.
